Colonel J. Tyler Ryberg, USMC (Retired), is the Director of the missionary agency and local church ministry of Faith Baptist Church, Belleville, IL. Before his appointment of WMBM, he served for 27 1/2 years as a commissioned officer and pilot in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from active duty on October 1, 2003.
During his time in the Marine Corps, he flew over 2,600 hours in the AH-1 “Cobra” attack helicopter gunship, served a combat tour in 1982-83 in Beirut, Lebanon, was a Commanding Officer in First Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan, and served in the Pentagon writing national security and military strategies for the President of the United States. His personal decorations include: two Legions of Merit; the Joint Meritorious Service Medal; Army, Navy, and Marine Commendation Medals; the Marine Corps and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals; the National Defense Medal as well as other campaign, foreign, and service awards.
In addition to his military duties, he has served our Savior in many fundamental independent, Baptist Churches around the globe as interim pastor, deacon, military ministry director, counselor, Sunday School Superintendent/ teacher and music director.
Colonel and Mrs. Ryberg exhibit an exceptional love and burden for young men and women in uniform and families of the Armed Forces of the United States of America. |
